McDonald's (MCD) Keeping Closed Lips on Bagged Coffee Rumor

Last month McDonald’s (NYSE: MCD) filed for a trademark to use its name for ground and whole-bean coffee. This has led some investors to speculate that the company is considering selling its coffee in grocery stores along side Dunkin’ Donuts (Nasdaq: DNKN) and Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX).
In an email exchange with Bloomberg, Danya Proud, McDonald’s spokeswoman, declined to comment and called the idea "speculative".
