Notable ETF Movers of the Day 09/28: (VXX) Higher; (EWJ) (XME) Lower

Gainers:

iPath S&P 500 VIX ST Futures ETN (NYSE: VXX) gained 1.3 percent to 8.85 as implied volatility on the S&P 500 climbed. The VIX read 15.30 intraday on Friday. After reaching yearly lows in August, implied volatility bounced higher this week in part because of renewed fears out of Europe.

Decliners:

iShares MSCI Japan Index (EWJ) declined 1.76 percent to 9.19 as traders positioned ahead of weekend data on Japan Manufacturing for the third quarter. Tankan Large Manufacturers Outlook is a measure of future business expectations. The Index is expected to show a decline in sentiment.

SPDR S&P Metals & Mining (XME) is lower by 1.45 percent to 43.41. Metals and mining stock remained under pressure on Friday, as several coal stocks took another leg down. Notably, cloud Peak Energy Inc. (CLD), which at 3.4 percent is the second largest holding in XME, declined 4 percent.
