VIVUS (VVUS) Gets Jump on Arena (ARNA); Quietly Discloses Qsymia Availability in U.S.

Earlier in the session, VIVUS, Inc. (Nasdaq: VVUS) filed an 8-K with the U.S. SEC disclosing that its weight-loss drug Qsymia was available in the U.S. market. The announcement was made on Qsymia.com.
Investors appeared to be apprehensive on the news early Monday, with VIVUS just now making a run into positive territory. Curiously, peer Arena Pharma (Nasdaq: ARNA) is also higher Monday, despite its weight-loss drug, Belviq, not expected to be available until early in 2013.
Arena is up 1.3 percent while VIVUS is 0.9 percent better.
