Broader markets are trading flat on Wednesday as investors brace for an interesting two days of trading. The highlights will be comments from ECB president Maria Draghi tomorrow and jobs numbers on Friday. SPDR S&P 500 (NYSE: SPY) is higher by 0.09 percent to 141.16.
Gainers:
SPDR S&P Oil & Gas Equipment & Services (NYSE: XES) is higher by 0.57 percent to 33.50. Shares of Bristow Group (NYSE: BRS) gained 1.31 percent. Yesterday the company announced it acquired Couger Helicopter for $250 million. Bristow Group is a provider of helicopter services to the worldwide offshore energy industry, and Cougar Helicopters is the largest offshore energy and search and rescue helicopter service provider in Canada.
Decliners:
Market Vectors Coal ETF (NYSE: KOL) is lower again today by 1.1 percent to 21.67. In the past 5 days the ETF has declined 5 percent. Year-to-date it is lower by 36.5 percent. Several coal stocks were downgraded yesterday due to a decline in met coal prices. Stocks in this sector remain at multi-year lows.
SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETF (NYSE: KRE) is lower by 0.18 percent. Shares of Texas Capital BancShares are lower by 1.80 percent to 46.42. The stock is pulling back after a 12-mont, 100 percent rally. KRE has gained 38 percent over the same period.
