Nuance (NUAN) Gets Lost in the WWDC Buzz But Mabye it Shouldn't Be

June 12, 2012 12:32 PM EDT
Lost in all the Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) WWDC buzz has been Nuance Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: NUAN), the voice technology company supplying the backbone for Siri.

While the expanding Siri integration is putting a dagger in companies like Garmin Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN) and Harman International (NYSE: HAR), Nuance is not getting its just dues on the positive side of the spectrum. Shares are actually lower since the announcement.

In addition to using Siri for turn-by-turn navigation, Siri will now be available on the iPad.

Analysts at Wedbush expect the Siri news to raise the profile for speech and Nuance, although, since it is believed the contract with Apple is fixed, there will be no financial benefit for Apple's Siri expansion.
