Nokia (NOK) Volatility Up as Shares Bounce Off Multi-Year Lows; Loses Top Mobile Spot to Samsung

Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) shares are seeing some activity as shares bounce off of multi-year lows Thursday.

Market data has implied volatility up 3.4 percent from Wednesday's close and at 109 percent of its trailing annual average.

Shares are up about 0.7 percent to the $2.80 range. Many though a support level at $3 was possible, but Nokia squelched that idea last Monday.

The best information available today is Nokia losing the top global handset spot to Korea's Samsung. Gartner data yesterday have Nokia's first-quarter 2012 unit shipments down 22.7 percent to 83.16 million units, giving it a market share of 19.8 percent. That share is down from 25.1 percent reported in the same period last year.

Might investors finally be breathing a sigh of relief?
