Shares of Harley-Davidson (NYSE: HOG) are down more than 4 percent Friday afternoon as Citi's Gregory Badishkanian issued an earlier note which showed dealer checks suggesting US retail sales during April and early May were up about 1-3 percent.

The analyst warned the Street may view the deceleration as negatively. Badishkanian said may dealers indicated sales were hurt by a shortage of bikes, something which will benefit motorcycle pricing. He expects sales in the remainder of May and into June to be more normal.

Citi maintains a Buy rating on Harley-Davidson.

The stock last traded at $48.40.
