U.S. Corn Yield Heading for Record
U.S. corn yield may be heading for a record, according to Hussein Allidina, an analyst at Morgan Stanley. He thinks there is a good chance the U.S. Department of Agriculture may raise its estimate of the corn yield in its monthly crop report on May 10th.
"Yields were raised in May in all five of the fastest plantings seasons since 2000, and the U.S. corn yield may be heading for a record," stated Allidina in an email today.
On the whole, agricultural sector stocks, as tracked by Market Vectors Agribusiness ETF (NYSE: MOO), are up 10 percent so far this year.
