Barclays on U.S. Multi-Industry: What Makes A Great Industrial Company?

Analyst, Scott R. Davis, said, "Our analysis shows that "great" industrial companies clearly have to have top-tier operating metrics, but what tends to drive their stock prices may surprise some. The biggest differentiators lie in less obvious areas: portfolio management and cash reinvestment. In addition, top performers don't settle for existing higher-than-peer levels but drive to even higher performance."

Davis feels that 'great' companies has to do with a lower cost of capital and the advantages that come along with it.

Out of 24 companies with qualified reviews for Barclays 'Greatness', Davis has chosen W.W. Grainger (NYSE: GWW), Roper (NYSE: ROP), Danaher (NYSE: DHR) and Rockwell (NYSE: ROK).
