Receders
  • SPDR S&P 500 (NYSE: SPY) down 1.37 percent to $137.33. U.S. markets lower following economic data. Some speculate the rapid rise might be due in part to warmer weather causing companies to start hiring earlier than they normally would. Evidence might be in the aforementioned February number, which was revised higher by 34,000 positions.

  • Technology Select Sector SPDR (NYSE: XLK) down 1.99 percent to $29.10. Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is adding more pressure to the markets as shares continue lower Friday. Over the last month -- which amounts to about 21 trading days, Apple has finished lower on 16 of those occasions. Apple's saving grace was its second-quarter report, which significantly cut that slide when issued on April 24th.
