The following is a brief summary of events moving markets today:
- Job adds slow: This morning, data from ADP showed that the private sector added just 113,000 jobs in April, which was below the 175,000 analysts were expecting. In addition, March's number was adjusted down from the initial estimate of 209,000 to a revised estimate of 201,000. Small businesses added 58,000 jobs, medium businesses added 57,000 and Large businesses added 4,000.
- When it comes to BlackBerry, keyboards are clutch: Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM) unveiled its BlackBerry 10 (BB10) operating system and CEO Thorsten Heins said RIM will be keeping models with physical keyboards. To read some analyst comments from BlackBerry World 2012, click here.
RIM ended 5 percent lower Wednesday.
- A win for Wynn: Wynn Resorts Ltd. (Nasdaq: WYNN) announced Wynn Macau's Cotai land concession contract has been officially approved by the Macau government. This will pave the way for the company to break ground on the 51-acre site.
- Target squelches Fire: According to TheVerge Wednesday, Target circulated a memo to execs and managers saying the Kindle will be taken off shelves due to a "conflict of interest."
Stores have until May 13th to comply. Target's online store shows no signs of the Kindle Fire.
