Bridgepoint Education (BPI) Misses Q1 EPS by 5c; Approves $75M Buyback; Guides FY12

Bridgepoint Education (NYSE: BPI) reported Q1 EPS of $0.71, $0.05 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.76. Revenue for the quarter came in at $250.4 million versus the consensus estimate of $251.06 million.

The Company's Board of Directors has authorized the repurchase of up to $75.0 million of the Company's outstanding shares of common stock over the next 12 months. Under the share repurchase program, the Company may purchase shares from time to time in the open market, through block trades or otherwise.

Bridgepoint Education sees FY2012 EPS of $2.45-$2.55, versus the consensus of $2.56. Bridgepoint Education sees FY2012 revenue of $1.01-$1.03 billion, versus the consensus of $1.02 billion.
