Shares of Monster Beverage (Nasdaq: MNST) are up more than 14 percent Monday afternoon following some late-morning headlines from the WSJ that Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) may be in talks to purchase the company. Although shares initially spiked to over $80 (to a session high at $83.96), Monster shares are now trading around $75.50.
UBS's Kaumil Gajrawala already weighed in on the rumors, saying Monster would be a good fit for Coke, likely offering at least $600 million in cost synergies. The analyst believes Monster could receive $84-$100 per share in a takeover. This range would offer further upside of 11-32 percent from where the stock is trading Monday.
