UBS on Property Casualty Insurance: Q1 Earnings Wrap

Analyst, Brian Meredith, said, "As we had anticipated, upside surprises vs. consensus EPS estimates are far outpacing shortfalls (13 beats and four misses) so far this earnings season. However, stock reactions have been very mixed as low investment book yields once again resulted in downward EPS estimate revisions for several companies."

"Like shares of Allstate (NYSE: ALL) and PartnerRe (NYSE: PRE) into this week - For ALL, we see upside vs. our above-consensus 1Q12 EPS est. as well as upward EPS estimate revisions on widening underwriting margins. PRE shares are out of favor, and the company should see good earnings, which could be a catalyst for the stock."
