Canaccord Genuity reiterates a 'Buy' on Heartware Int'l (NASDAQ: HTWR) price target of $95.00.
Analyst, Jason R. Mills, said, "After a long day of serious debate about the merits of HTWR’s HVAD, the FDA Circulatory Devices Panel voted definitively that the benefits of HVAD therapy for BTT patients outweighed the risks (9-2 in favor); proved reasonably safe (8-3 in favor) and effective (11-0 in favor). Based on the totality of information (i.e., discussion and final vote), coupled with our clinician survey data regarding HVAD expectations post-approval, we maintain our expectations for FDA approval timing (Sept.) and total revenue in 2012 and beyond."
"While the favorable vote for HVAD could drive some near-term weakness in Thoratec (Nasdaq: THOR)(HOLD) common, we surmise Thoratec does not come out of this panel in “bad shape” when one thinks about how they can – and likely will – position HM2 juxtaposed to HVAD approval."
