Human Genome Sciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: HGSI) 100% HIGHER; today announced that it has received an unsolicited proposal from GlaxoSmithKline plc (NYSE: GSK) to acquire HGS for $13.00 per share in cash. HGS also announced today that its Board of Directors has authorized the exploration of strategic alternatives in the best interests of shareholders, including, but not limited to, a potential sale of the Company.

Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ: MLNX) 43.7% HIGHER; reported Q1 EPS of $0.51, $0.17 better than the analyst estimate of $0.34. Revenue for the quarter came in at $88.7 million versus the consensus estimate of $81.6 million.

Houston American Energy Corp (AMEX: HUSA) 39.3% LOWER; today announced that a determination has been made to cease efforts to test and complete the C7 and C9 formations in the Tamandua #1 sidetrack well. Despite favorable Logging-While-Drilling logs, cased-hole logs and mudlog shows, it was determined that continued investment in testing and completion is inadvisable at this time possibly due to formation damage while drilling. The Company is encouraged, however, by the information gained from this well for the other prospects on the block. The Tamandua #1 wellbore will be preserved in a way to allow for further evaluation, if at such time in the future it is determined that it is warranted.

Qihoo 360 Technology Co. Ltd (Nasdaq: QIHU) 18.9% HIGHER; short sellers are getting hosed early Thursday after the company surprisingly filed their annual report on form 20F, which auditors signed off on and didn't include an auditor change. Click here to see the note.

Achillion Pharma (Nasdaq: ACHN) 16.6% LOWER; tumbling following positive data from Gilead and, separately, Idenix (Nasdaq: IDIX).

Syntel, Inc. (NASDAQ: SYNT) 15.6% HIGHER; reported Q1 EPS of $0.98, $0.23 better than the analyst estimate of $0.75. Revenue for the quarter came in at $170.7 million versus the consensus estimate of $172.11 million. Sees FY2012 EPS of $3.40-$3.65, versus the consensus of $3.28. Syntel, Inc. sees FY2012 revenue of $730-$755 million, versus the consensus of $738.4 million.

eBay, Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY) 15% HIGHER; reported Q1 EPS of $0.55, $0.03 better than the analyst estimate of $0.52. Revenue for the quarter came in at $3.3 billion versus the consensus estimate of $3.15 billion. Sees Q2 2012 EPS of $0.53-$0.55, versus the consensus of $0.54. Sees Q2 2012 revenue of $3.25-$3.35 billion, versus the consensus of $3.36 billion. Sees FY2012 EPS of $2.30-$2.35, versus prior guidance of $2.25-$2.30 and the consensus of $2.30. Sees FY2012 revenue of $13.8-$14.1 billion, versus the consensus of $13.85 billion.

Gentex Corp (NASDAQ: GNTX) 14.2% LOWER; reported Q1 EPS of $0.32, in-line with the analyst estimate of $0.32. Revenue for the quarter came in at $290.7 million versus the consensus estimate of $294.13 million.

Anthera Pharma (NASDAQ: ANTH) 12.7% HIGHER; according to a Deutsche Bank analyst this morning, Glaxo's bid for Human Genome is a good thing for Anthera. Click here to see the note.

Gilead Sciences (Nasdaq: GILD) 12.2% HIGHER; up following an update on its proposed treatment for genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, GS-7977. According to the release, "the study found that 90 percent of patients (n=47/52, missing data equals failure analysis) achieved a 12-week sustained virologic response (SVR12), defined as maintaining undetectable viral load (HCV RNA <25 IU/mL) 12 weeks after the completion of therapy."

F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIV) 11.5% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $1.09, $0.02 better than the analyst estimate of $1.07. Revenue for the quarter came in at $339.6 million versus the consensus estimate of $335.06 million. Looking for Q3 adj-EPS of $1.12-$1.14, which compares to the Street estimate of $1.14. Sees sales of $350-$355 million, vs. the consensus estimate of $353.4 million. Expecting FY12 sales growth of at least 20 percent and cash flow from operations above $110 million.

Cypress Semiconductor (NASDAQ: CY) 11.4% HIGHER; reported Q1 EPS of $0.12, $0.02 better than the analyst estimate of $0.10. Revenue for the quarter came in at $185.09 million versus the consensus estimate of $185.24 million.
