Luxury Goods Makers in Spotlight on Strong LVMH Q1 Sales Growth (TIF) (COH) (ZLC)

Shares of Tiffany (NYSE: TIF), Coach (NYSE: COH), Zale (NYSE: ALC), Signet Jewelers (NYSE: SIG), and Blue Nile (Nasdaq: NILE) may all see some upside Wednesday following first-quarter numbers from luxury goods maker LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA
LVMH reported a 25 percent increase in revs to €6.58 billion, beating views calling for revs of €6.43 billion. Excluding some items, organic top-line growth was about 14 percent. LVMH got a boost from the acquisition of Bulgari last year.
In terms of "poppin' bottles in da club," LVMH's Wine and Spirits unit, which includes such fan favorites as Moet & Chandon and Cloudy Bay wines, reported a 22 percent jump in revs to €926 million.
Additionally, peer Burberry reported a 19 percent jump in second-half sales, though fourth-quarter sales growth was half that reported in the prior year.
