RIM (RIMM) Looking for Advisor to Help with Strategic Options
Shares of Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM) surged very sharply just minutes before Monday's market close following a Bloomberg report which suggested the company is talking about hiring a bank in order to help consider strategic alternatives.
After trading in negative territory throughout Monday's afternoon session, RIM shares closed 4 percent higher at $13.42. Investors are taking profits in the post-market session; the stock last traded at $13.40.
According to the Bloomberg report, RIM is considering one Canadian bank for the advisement, however also has a global bank in mind. One idea which could be discussed is a licensing deal for the BlackBerry operating system, one source said.
