UPDATE: Rite Aid (RAD) Misses Q4 EPS by 4c; Comps Up 3%; Issues FY13 Loss, Revs Outlook

Rite Aid (NYSE: RAD) reported Q4 EPS of ($0.18), $0.04 worse than the analyst estimate of ($0.14). Revenue for the quarter came in at $7.1 billion versus the consensus estimate of $7.03 billion.

Loss includes $0.14 LIFO charge, a loss on debt modification charge, and a lower gain on sale of assets.

UPDATE: Same store sales for the quarter increased 3.0 percent over the prior-year period, consisting of a 1.6 percent increase in the front end and a 3.8 percent increase in the pharmacy.

In the fourth quarter, the company relocated two stores, remodeled 121 stores and closed 12 stores. Stores in operation at the end of the fourth quarter totaled 4,667. The Company had 280 wellness stores at year end.

Sees FY13 loss $0.13 - $0.31 per share on sales of $25.4 - $25.8 billion, versus consensus loss of $0.25 and sales of $25.7 billion. Comps will be flat to an increase of 1.5 percent.
