Barclays on U.S. Internet Sector: Q1 Earnings Preview

Analyst, Anthony DiClemente, said, "We remain positive on the Internet space as we believe fundamental trends in online advertising and eCommerce remained solid in 1Q12, while Europe may be less of a headwind this quarter. While some of the stocks in our Internet coverage have had strong performance year to date, others have stalled, such as one of our top long-term picks in the space, Google (Nasdaq: GOOG), which is down 2% YTD vs. the S&P 500 up 10%."

DiClemente sees Google topping Street estimates, but Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) to fall modestly below and eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY) to come in-line with expectations.

As for Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX), Barclays analyst, sees in-line to a slight beat and for Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN), results should be mostly in-line with expectations, although, shares have tended to overreact if revenues are light.
