Shares of Green Mountain (Nasdaq: GMCR) are trading down more than 4 percent Thursday morning as traders are considering a research note from Goldman Sachs' Michael Kelter on Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX).
While Kelter does not mention Green Mountain anywhere in the note, Nielsen data on K-cup performance certainly has important implications for the company. Channel data for the month ending March 17th suggests "Starbucks K-cup sales have stabilized at $1.5-$2.0 million per week..." The analyst warns "K-cup industry growth may have also reached a plateau as per its typical seasonal pattern."
Goldman Sachs does not rate shares of Green Mountain. The firm maintains a Neutral rating and $49 price target on shares of Starbucks.
