News Corp. (NWSA) Could Unveil US Sports Network to Compete Against ESPN (DIS)

Shares of Disney (NYSE: DIS) fell about 0.5 percent in late-day trade Wednesday following a Bloomberg headline News Corp. (Nasdaq: NWSA) is planning to launch a US sports network which would compete with ESPN. The stock marked an intraday low at $43.26 just seconds after the rumor began hitting wires.

Disney shares have now pared these losses, but are still down about 1.5 percent to $43.50.

News Corp. shares jumped on the news, but are now relatively unchanged from where the stock was trading prior to the headline. News Corp. stock last traded at $19.80.
