Nomura Securities maintains a 'Buy' on Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) price target of $37.00.
Analyst, Rick Sherlund, said, "There are design tradeoffs that might generate some negative press for Windows 8, but we think this resolves with new touch hardware and more Metro apps ultimately drawing personal productivity users in and stimulating badly needed innovation for Microsoft. We think it is critical that Office 15 shows fidelity to users that do not want their experience with Office to be altered by the need to work on a tablet or touch notebook in touch mode. We think Windows 8 users ultimately are pulled along into the new Metro mode by the availability of new touch hardware and more Metro apps, including the new version of Office. We continue to rate shares of Microsoft Buy ahead of fiscal (June) 2013, where we expect to see four significant product launches in Microsoft’s three most profitable divisions."
Nomura will be hosting a conference call today at 10:30AM ET to discuss Windows 8 and the new version of Office. Dial-in: (US) 877 450-0651, (Int’l) +1 706 902-1945; Conference ID: 63470421.
