Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. (NYSE: TDS) today announced the promotion of Joseph R. Hanley to senior vice president, technology, services and strategy, effective March 9, 2012.
Hanley joined TDS in 1988 and held positions in engineering, product management and development, customer operations, technology assessment, and strategy formulation. He became vice president of technology, planning and services in 2004, with responsibility for technology vendor relations and contracts, industry relations and standards, technology and policy support for growth initiatives, and technology strategy. Since then, Hanley's role has grown to include greater oversight of strategic planning for TDS and its businesses—U.S. Cellular and TDS Telecom—as well as planning and implementation of public policy and regulatory initiatives. Hanley was also named chairman of Airadigm Communications, Inc., a majority-owned wireless subsidiary of TDS, in December 2011.
