Janney Montgomery Scott maintains a 'Buy' on American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE: AEO) price target raised from $16 to $17.
JMS analyst said, "We believe the company is taking the right steps to align inventory with sales growth and are encouraged by the move to control inventory. We expect the company to provide better insight on the 1Q12 earnings call in May. On the 4Q11 earnings call, the company's new CEO Robert Hanson spoke to near-term priorities including, 1) driving competitive top-line growth, 2) improving margins, 3) strengthening inventory productivity, 4) accelerating e-Commerce, 4) evaluating the domestic store fleet, and 5) leveraging corporate infrastructure. We expect AEO to be a back half 2012 turnaround, as management works on bringing inventory levels in line with sales and focuses on the near-term priorities."
"We are raising our FY12 and FY13 EPS estimates to $0.98 from $0.90 (versus consensus at $1.06) and to $1.12 from $1.11 (versus consensus at $1.24), respectively."
