Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 03/07: (DSCO) (GCA) (LOW) High; (DECK) (NTRI) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Discovery Labs (Nasdaq: DSCO) high of $5.39. After the market closed Tuesday, Discovery Labs announced that the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved SURFAXIN (lucinactant) for the prevention of Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) in premature infants at high risk for RDS. SURFAXIN is the first synthetic, peptide-containing surfactant approved for use in neonatal medicine.

    Discovery shares moved 44 percent to the new mark.

  • Global Cash Access (NYSE: GCA) high of $6.60. Global Cash reported fourth-quarter earnings 17 cents on revs of $137.7 million, versus consensus views expecting EPS of 13 cents and revs of $130.6 million. Looking ahead, Global Cash sees fiscal 2012 EPS of 76 cents to 82 cents, versus the consensus of 58 cents.

  • Lowe's Co.'s (NYSE: LOW) high of $28.82. Lowe's moving to new highs today following stronger economic data. Fourth-quarter productivity was revised higher from 0.7 percent prior to 0.9 percent while ADP reported 216,000, beating the 215,000 Street consensus.

    These are the highest levels Lowe's has been at since October 2007.

  • Apollo Residential Mortgage (NYSE: AMTG) high of $19.19. Apollo Residential reported fourth-quarter EPS of $0.44, 13 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.31. Shares up 6.9 percent to its new high Wednesday.
52-Week Low:
  • Deckers Outdoor Corporation (Nasdaq: DECK) low of $70.25. Continuing lower below the $75 level after a 2.8 percent decline Tuesday. Shares are off about 5.5 percent, but traveled as much as 5.9 lower on the session.

  • NutriSystem (Nasdaq: NTRI) low of $10.21. NutriSystem continues to slide following fourth-quarter earnings as little in the way of catalysts are out on the session to stem the move. Late Monday, the company reported a loss of 4 cents on revs of $66.9 million, versus views calling for a loss of 2 cents and revs of $64.4 million.

    NutriSystem sees a Q1 loss of 5 to 10 cents, which compares to the Street estimate of a 10 cent gain.
