UPDATE: NutriSystem (NTRI) Misses Q4 EPS by 2c; Guides Q1, FY12 Well Below the Street

NutriSystem, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTRI) reported Q4 EPS of ($0.04), $0.02 worse than the analyst estimate of ($0.02). Revenue for the quarter came in at $66.9 million versus the consensus estimate of $64.43 million.

The results were dismal compared with last year's fourth quarter, when the company posted a profit of $0.25 per share and revenues that were 24% higher at $87.9 million.

For the year, revenue was $401.3 million, compared to $509.5 million last year. Adjusted EBITDA was $40.1 million, versus $75.8 million last year. EPS was $0.43, compared to $1.12 per diluted share in 2010.

The company ended the year with $57.6 million of cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities and $30 million of outstanding debt under the recently renewed $100 million revolving credit facility.

NutriSystem sees a Q1 loss of 5-10 cents, which compares to the Street estimate of a 10 cent gain.

The company sees FY12 EPS of 45-55 cents, versus the consensus of 92 cents.
