Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 02/28: (MSFT) (AAPL) (LVS) High; (XCO) (AMRS) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) high of $31.93. Overall market momentum might be carrying Microsoft a little higher on the session. Many tech companies are debuting some new wares and initiatives at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, Spain, this week, and Microsoft is said to be unveiling its new Windows 8 operating system tomorrow. Microsoft moved 1.9 percent Tuesday to the new mark.

  • Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) high of $534.62. Apple moving higher on the seesion today as folks are going bonkers about the upcoming debut of its next-generation tablet device, which is expected to happen at a March 7th event. Apple, to put it succinctly, has been ripping over the past several sessions. The tech and media giant has moved 1.7 percent on the session to its new mark, and have closed higher the last five out of six trading sessions.

  • priceline.com (Nasdaq: PCLN) high of $637.88. Priceline is ripping higher todayfollowing strong fourth-quarter results. Earnings were an adjusted $5.37 per share on revs of $991 million, versus consensus views calling for earnings of $5.05 per share and revs of $967.9 million.

  • Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) high of $54.88. Sands is up 3.4 percent Tuesday on a strong market day. There is an article out of the WSJ which says that Japan might move to legalize gambling following success in Macau and as its struggles to find new streams of revenue. Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson has been a supporter of the move for several years now and would probably aim to be first inline for a change to construct a new resort there.
52-Week Low:
  • EXCO Resources (NYSE: XCO) low of $6.78. EXCO filed its 10-K late Monday, giving investors a close look into annual numbers. Further, nat gas continues to slip as mild weather continues to linger and winter draws to a near. Draws of nat gas stockpiles are down about 500 billion cubic feet from the same period last year do to the warmer temps and even large energy companies cancelling some production isn't enough to drive prices higher.

  • Amyris, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMRS) low of $5.55. Amyris is lower after reporting a fourth-quarter loss of $1.30 per share on revs of $41.5 million, missing views calling for a loss of just 68 cents nad revs of $47.85 million.
