Fred's (FRED) Raises Qtr. Dividend 20% to $0.06, 1.7% Yield; Adds 3.6M Shares to Buyback

Fred's, Inc. (NASDAQ: FRED) declared a quarterly dividend of $0.06 per share, or $0.24 annualized. This is a 20% increase from the prior dividend of $0.05.
The dividend will be payable on March 15, 2012, to stockholders of record on March 1, 2012, with an ex-dividend date of February 28, 2012.
The annual yield on the dividend is 1.7 percent.
The Board also authorized the repurchase of an additional 3.6 million shares of its common stock, or about 10 percent of the currently outstanding shares.
