This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

- Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) high of $458.24. Apple is moving higher again today on overall sentiment. Earlier, the firm named John Browett as head of its retail ops. Browett is coming over from U.K. electronics retailer Dixons Retail. Shares moved 1.2 percent to the new mark Tuesday.
- Mattel Inc. (NYSE: MAT) high of $31.49. Mattel reported earnings of $1.07 per share on revenue of $2.15 billion, mixed to views calling for EPS of $1.01 and revs of $2.23 billion.
- Westport Innovations Inc. (Nasdaq: WPRT) high of $41.02. Could be moving along with Fuel Systems (Nasdaq: FSYS) following disclosure that a major shareholder in the company increased his position to about 10 percent. Fuel Systems is up 4.6 percent on the news, though Wesport traveled 8 percent higher to the new mark.
Also of note, nat gas is continuing lower as crude climbs in price, possibly adding to motivation for conversion into an alternative-fuel vehicle.
- Seagate Technology PLC (NYSE: STX) high of $21.22. Seagate is trading stronger into quarterly numbers Tuesday afternoon. Though the memory-maker preannounced results earlier in January, investors and traders are anticipating fiscal 2012 guidance.
Shares moved 1.6 percent to the new mark today. Implied volatility is just above where it was at the start of January for Seagate.
- RadioShack Corp. (NYSE: RSH) low of $7.15. Radio Shack getting hit following preliminary fourth-quarter sales and earnings expectations of $1.39 billion and 11 to 13 cents, respectively. Issued after the market closed Monday, the Street was modeling revs of $1.35 billion and more robust earnings of 37 cents per share.
Radio Shack also said it was suspending its buyback program and sees fiscal 2012 net income lower year-over-year, citing Sprint as the culprit. Radio shack moved over 30 percent lower on the report.
- Polypore International (NYSE: PPO) low of $37.00. Polypore was crushed 32 percent Tuesday afternoon, following reports that rival LG Chem will have a separator plant up and running by the second-half of 2012. The company has not issued a comment on the stock move yet.
- Rex Energy Corporation (Nasdaq: REXX) low of $9.34. Rex announced a 7 million common share offering and also submitted additional info for its prospectus supplement filing with the U.S. SEC. The following comments were added: "Based upon our preliminary analysis, we estimate that we will incur pretax impairment charges from continuing operations, which excludes the operating results from our Denver Julesburg Basin assets, of approximately $11.7 million and $14.6 million for the three and twelve months ended December 31, 2011. Approximately $11.6 million of the estimated pretax impairment expense for the fourth quarter of 2011 is related to the impairment of shallow conventional natural gas properties in the Appalachian Basin."
Rec is down nearly 12 percent to its low today.
