Canaccord Genuity: Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012 - Wireless Meetings Part II
Canaccord analyst, Michael Walkley, met with management at several wireless companies and released the following notes for investors:
BRIGHTPOINT (Nasdaq: CELL)(BUY): . . . we believe opportunities to leverage completed European Centers-of-Excellence for new logistics business and the increased TAM for Brightpoint’s reverse logistics business provide potential growth opportunities and could result in upside to our estimates.
NQ MOBILE (NYSE: NQ)(BUY): With our expectation Android smartphones will grow over 200% in 2011 to over 200M units combined with NQ Mobile’s industry-leading cloud scanning technology, we believe NQ Mobile is well-positioned to benefit from growing consumer awareness for virus risks on smartphones
SIERRA WIRELESS (Nasdaq: SWIR)(BUY): We anticipate improved sales for Sierra’s mobile computing business during 2012 as its leading customers AT&T, Telstra, and Sprint increase LTE coverage and offer Sierra Wireless solutions. We also anticipate steady M2M growth.
NOVATEL WIRELESS (Nasdaq: NVTL)(HOLD): We believe Novatel is well positioned to capture market share with leading customer Verizon during 2012. We also believe Novatel’s LTE modules should help grow its share with leading laptop OEMs during 2012. However, with leading Novatel customer Sprint transitioning from WiMAX to LTE during 2012, we believe weaker sales to this customer during its transition could offset stronger sales to Verizon.
SMITH MICRO SOFTWARE (Nasdaq: SMSI)(HOLD): While we believe Smith Micro’s core wireless business is stabilizing at recent low levels and should have a long tail given ongoing USB modem sales, we believe new products such as its Mobile Network Director are necessary to drive recovering sales growth.
