Barnes & Noble (BKS) Slammed as Potential NOOK-Spin Overshadowed by Lower Guidance

Shares of Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS) are under pressure as investors overlooked the company's plans to seperate the NOOK Digital business and instead focused on deteriorating fundamentals as witnessed in the company's lowered guidance.

Barnes & Noble cut its FY12 outlook: sales from about $7.4 billion to $7-$7.2 billion, which compares to the Street estimate of $7.33 billion. Loss raised from 10-50 cents per share to $1.10-$1.40 per share. The Street is looking for a loss of 63 cents per share.

Shares of BKS are down 13 percent to $11.75.
