Nomura Securities maintains a 'Neutral' on Family Dollar Stores Inc. (NYSE: FDO) price target raised $2 to $55.

Nomura analyst, Aram Rubinson, said, "Recent in-store observations suggest better trends than we previously modeled. Our sense is that FDO did as good a job of balancing sales and margins in FQ1, and our recent checks also detected fewer signs of scrimping on labor in the Nov period. We therefore raise our F12 EPS estimate from $3.35 to $3.47. Our FQ1 EPS estimate now stands $0.04 higher at $0.67 and is in line with the Street. Our F13 estimate is now $3.90, reflecting a higher F12 base."

FDO plans to report FQ1 (Nov) quarter results on Thursday after the close, and will hold a conference call Friday at 8:30 a.m.
