Leap (LEAP), MetroPCS (PCS) Pop as Investors Mull Possible AT&T (T) Deal

December 30, 2011 12:30 PM EST
Leap Wireless (Nasdaq: LEAP) and MetroPCS (NYSE: PCS) are moving higher again today, though Leap is making the much larger move, as investors continue to weigh the possibility of a takeover by AT&T (NYSE: T).

Word was started yesterday, following a J.P. Morgan note on the topic. The firm did a great job summarizing the possibilities for an M&A, notably saying an acquisition of Leap or PCS would get a more favorable outlook from federal antitrust regulators.

With a combined market cap of $3 billion to $4 billion, and the potential to convert millions of prepaid subs much less gather more spectrum, it seems like a great deal for AT&T.

On that note, Leap is up 15 percent today, after a close 4.3 percent better Thursday. PCS is up 4.5 percent after a 2.5 percent gain yesterday.
