Canaccord Genuity 2012 Top Picks in New Media and Location Technology
Analyst, Jeff Rath, said, "Our top picks within our New Media universe are KIT digital (Nasdaq: KITD)(BUY) and Rovi (Nasdaq: ROVI)(BUY). For KIT digital, we believe the company is very well-positioned to benefit from the accelerating market dynamics resulting from both NFLX’s rapid international expansion, particularly in Latin America, and, just as importantly, the accelerating launch of OTT services on the Xbox both in the U.S. and globally. ioko – KITD’s most recent (4/11/2011) and largest ($79.4M) acquisition – has executed some of the most successful Xbox OTT services to date with BSkyB and Foxtel, and is well-positioned to win many more as a derivative to the broad Xbox OTT push by Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), in our opinion. Specific to Rovi, we continue to believe the company is wellpositioned to benefit from an increasing awareness of the OTT market and feel confident that numerous growth opportunities remain.
"Within our Location Technology universe, we like Trimble Navigation (Nasdaq: TRMB)(BUY) and Velti (Nasdaq: VELT)(BUY). For Trimble, we believe the company will continue to benefit from strong cyclical recoveries in its key Ag and E&C endmarkets, while recent acquisitions and SITECH channel expansion builds on solid historic growth rates and operating margin leverage. Specific to Velti, we feel that the company remains well positioned in a very strong macro and believe that both macro-economic and company-specific concerns have contributed to an oversold stock. In our opinion, global macro fears and recent industry changes appear to have less of a negative impact on Velti than the market implies."
