Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 12/13: (MO) (DUK) (LLY) High; (ECYT) (PTRY) (RIMM) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Altria Group Inc. (NYSE: MO) high of $29.05. Altria got a little boost from earlier market moves, as traders and investors were initally bullish on Europe, which soured after German Chancellor Angela Merkel rejected raising the limit on the European Stability Mechanism (ESM).

  • Eli Lilly & Co. (NYSE: LLY) high of $40.24. Lilly continuing higher from Monday, following positive Phase I data from the investigational therapy LY2784544, a small-molecule Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) inhibitor. Shares moved as much as 3.2 percent on the session to the new mark.

  • Duke Energy Corporation (NYSE: DUK) high of $21.05. Duke has been hanging in the $20s for most of December now, but popped 2.1 percent with the markets to a new high Tuesday. Late last week, the company received upgrades from Goldman Sachs and FBR Capital, giving shares some positive momentum into this week.
52-Week Low:
  • Endocyte (Nasdaq: ECYT) low of $3.62. Endocyte is getting absolutely smashed today, after an independent review of the PRECEDENT trial showed a decrease in the benefit compared to the original analysis. Click here for more color. Endocyte moved over 64 percent to the new mark.

  • The Pantry Inc. (Nasdaq: PTRY) low of $9.52. The Pantry is lower Tuesday after reporting fourth-quarter earnings of 37 cents on revenue of $2.18 billion, compared with the Street consensus calling for EPS of 55 cents and revs of $2.29 billion. Comps fell 0.8 percent in the quarter as well.

  • Research In Motion Limited (Nasdaq: RIMM) low of $15.34. RIM moving 5.4 percent to the new mark Tuesday, as overall confidence in the company is waning. Research firm NPD released a brief 2011 summary for mobile operators, not painting a pretty picture for RIM in the process.
