UPDATE - Canaccord Genuity initiates coverage on Anthera Pharma (NASDAQ: ANTH) with a Buy rating and $13 price target.
Canaccord analyst, Ritu Baral, said, "Initiating with BUY, $13 target on good chance of blisibimod Phase 2/3 lupus success and positive Phase 3 varespladib ACS data in 2012. Blisibimod is Anthera’s Phase 2/3 BAFF peptibody for lupus, which we think will yield positive data from the ongoing PEARL-SC trial in Q2/12. We also think sPLA2 inhibitor varespladib will show clinically meaningful benefit in post-ACS cardiovascular risk in mid-2012, from the ongoing VISTA-16 trial."
"We believe either blisibimod or varespladib could be the basis of a rich partnership. We also see Anthera as an attractive takeout candidate in the 2013 timeframe."
