According to reports from Bloomberg, private equity firm, Silver Lake has offered to acquire a minority stake in Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) for $16.60 per share.
The report goes on to say that Silver Lake is working with Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz to purchase the stake in YHOO and is hoping to complete the deal by year end.
Separately, Alibaba Group was also looking to buy back the stake in itself (that is currently owned by Yahoo!) and will continue to monitor the situation. And, it's possible that Alibaba re-enters a bid.
Previously, the WSJ reported that Yahoo! was looking to sell off approx. 20% and had offers from at least 3 bidders.
