UPDATE - Barrington Research upgraded Dolby Laboratories (NYSE: DLB) from Market Perform to Outperform. PT $43.
Barrington analyst said, "While Dolby has been working through a several year period of very modest revenue and earnings growth including contraction in some categories that have been revenue leaders, we are optimistic that some meaningful growth opportunities are now beginning to emerge. While the immediacy of this upside is not totally certain, the entry point is so tempting that we now feel the risk/reward is increasingly in favor of taking positions in DLB. Therefore, we are taking this opportunity to upgrade DLB."
"Revenues for 2012 are now expected to fall in a range of $910-970 million, an indicated range of down 5% to up 2%. Our forecast for 2012 revenues had been $979 million, an indicated gain of 5% over our projected total of $936 million, which was exceeded by $20 million. Our new aggregate revenue estimate for Dolby in 2012 is $965 million, up 1% from $955 million reported in 2011. This figure assumes a 5% gain in licensing revenues to $828 million offset by a 17% decline in product and services revenues to $137 million."
