Barclays maintains an 'Underweight' on OfficeMax (NYSE: OMX) price target of $5.00.
Barclays analyst says, "We attended OMX's analyst day in New York City. At this event, President and CEO Ravi Saligram, together with other members of the management team, outlined the company's long-term plans for growth and profitability in what remains a highly challenging operating environment. Overall, the presentations were cautiously optimistic and focused on balancing potential growth opportunities with adapting to the challenges of the highly competitive office supply space."
"Long-term growth targets outlined; profitability likely to continue to come from margin and cost reduction initiatives, although some revenue opportunities remain: Management's presentations focused on the company's long-term return to peak operating margin, suggesting that with the right balance of growth and prudent operational management, the company can successfully return to peak operating margin of 3.8%, which was last achieved in 2007."
