Leerink Swann initiates coverage on Vical (NASDAQ: VICL) with an Outperform. PT $6.00.
Leerink analyst says, "Vical is a development-stage biotechnology company with broad programs in cancer, infectious disease and cardiology including a proprietary compound with pending Phase III data and two partnered candidates starting Phase III."
"We believe there has been increasing interest in vaccines from the industry in recent years. Vical's plasmid DNA delivery technology provides a foundation for a number of opportunities. Partnerships, including the recent Astellas deal for TransVax, provide validation and resources for advancing to Phase III for prevention of CMV infection in patients undergoing hematopoietic cell transplant."
