UPDATE - Global Hunter Securities initiates coverage on Sunoco (NYSE: SUN) with a Neutral.
Global analyst said, "Sunoco has weathered a virtually impossible refining environment for its East Coast assets about as well as anyone could hope, and is taking advantage of substantial corporate liquidity through a recently completed share repurchase against a relatively attractive sum-of-the-parts valuation. With the impending removal of the problematic refineries, we await the next catalyst."
"Given Sunoco's strong financial position, we remain cognizant of attractive entry points with respect to SUN shares, as any moment could present a significant catalyst. However, with the refinery exit process on the front burner, potentially for several more quarters, we remain cautious regarding consolidated earnings potential, even with the rapid growth of Sunoco Logistics (NYSE: SXL) and its solid retail performance."
