Canaccord Genuity Sustainability Earnings Preview: Headwinds & Tailwinds by John Quealy
Quealy said, "We find Street sentiment a bit more constructive overall in the alternative fuel space given favorable natural gas and petroleum-related tailwinds, while the coal technology and bioresources sectors (DAR) are facing legislative and near term commodity pricing challenges, respectively."
Fuel Systems Solutions (Nasdaq: FSYS)(HOLD): While Q3 likely reflects seasonal softness from European OEMs, we look for signs of aftermarket health and geographic growth.
Westport Innovations (Nasdaq: WPRT)(HOLD): Off the recent analyst day, we anticipate elevated business activity across the light, medium and heavy duty segments.
Darling International (NYSE: DAR)(HOLD): We expect a relatively in-line Q3 (down slightly vs. a strong Q2) driven by favorable seasonal factors and strong export demand for fats, partially offset by some dead-stock loss.
Headwaters (NYSE: HW)(BUY): We look for seasonal strength in Q4, with further cost restructuring actions setting the stage for an improved profitability profile in F2012.
Fuel Tech (Nasdaq: FTEK)(HOLD): Bookings appear resilient, even as proposed changes to domestic air pollution regulations cloud the macro.
