The Dow gained 75.32 Points, Nasdaq ended up 28.87

The Dow gained 75.32 points (0.68%) to close at 11,151.34, the Nasdaq ended up 28.87 points (1.27%) to close at 2,295 and the S&P 500 jumped 13.35 points (1.04%) to close at 1,297.48. Volume was modest with 1.56 billion shares trading on the NYSE and 1.97 billion shares trading on the Nasdaq. Advancers topped decliners by a margin of 24:09 on the NYSE and 21:20 on the Nasdaq. In individual stories, Goldman Sachs Group (NYSE: GS) soared $8.70 after posting better than expected Q1 results. Also, Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) gained $14.10 during the normal trading day on news a judge, at the hearing in Federal District Court, would make due with a reduced request of information. On the downside, Comverse Technology (Nasdaq: CMVT) fell $4.30 (14.75%) after news its board will review matters relating to the company's stock option grants, including, but not limited to, the accuracy of the stated dates of option grants and whether all proper corporate procedures were followed. Tomorrow, traders will be looking for information on Export-Import Prices(8:30AM EST), NY Empire State Index(8:30AM EST), Net Foreign Purchases(9:00AM EST), Crude Inventories(10:30AM EST), and Fed's Beige Book (2:00PM EST).
