Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 10/14: (OPK) (NUAN) (UN) High; (AVII) (DEPO) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Opko Health (NYSE: OPK) high of $5.34. Opko Health is higher today following an interview between the CEO, Dr. Phillip Frost, and Jim Cramer. Click here for more color.

  • Nuance Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: NUAN) high of $24.34. Nuance is continuing higher from yesterday, following the introduction of Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) new iPhone 4S, as Nuance is said to power the most popular feature of the new device, 'Siri.' Siri is the voice recognition system on iPhone 4S.

  • Unilever NV (NYSE: UN) high of $34.41. Unilever has made an impressive move throughout October, jumping above the $33.25 resistance level at the start Friday. Unilever shares moved 13.2 percent from a recent low of $30.40 on October 4th. The company may be seeing some upside following strong retail sales for September.
52-Week Low:
  • AVI Biopharma (Nasdaq: AVII) low of $0.7715. AVI Biopharma received notice from Department of Defense that its proposal for full clinical development of its influenza candidate, AVI-7100 did not qualify for a contract award. AVI dropped 26 percent to its new low on the session.

  • DepoMed Inc. (Nasdaq: DEPO) low of $4.45. DepoMed reported top-line results from BREEZE 3, a Phase 3 trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of Serada (extended-release gabapentin tablets) for menopausal hot flashes. Serada is a proprietary formulation of gabapentin using patented polymer technology that enables gradual release of the drug. Efficacy data from the trial were positive and statistically significant for three of the four pre-specified primary endpoints of frequency and severity at four and 12 weeks. However, data for the key secondary endpoints of frequency and severity at 24 weeks did not achieve statistical significance.
