Notable 52-Week Highs and Lows of the Day 10/13: (NUAN) (CREE) (SAVE) High; (SMSI) (IRE) (ILMN) Low

This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Nuance Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: NUAN) high of $23.45. Nuance shares continue higher following the introduction of Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone 4S, as Nuance is said to power the most popular feature of the new device, 'Siri.' Siri is the voice recognition system on iPhone 4S, and it has been getting some good reactions following initial review. Shares are up 4.8 percent on the session.

  • Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) high of $29.50. Cree is 3.5 percent higher on the session, continuing from yesterday, as the stock is seeing a continued increase in call volume.

  • Spirit Airlines, Inc. (Nasdaq: SAVE) high of $16.27. Spirit Airlines saw a 9.8 percent increase in Revenue passenger miles (RPMs), 3.4 percent jump in Available seat miles (ASMs), and overall load factor increasing 4.8 points to 82.5 percent. Spirit also issued third-quarter guidance, with CASM, ex-fuel, in a range of 5.70 to 5.75, and expected fuel cost of $3.27 per gallon, ex-hedges. Spirit sees using 31.64 million gallons in the quarter.
52-Week Low:
  • Smith Micro Software Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI) low of $1.32. Smith Micro moving nearly 20 percent lower Thursday, as is sees preliminary third-quarter revenue of $12.6 million, a far cry from the $17.7 million expected.

  • The Bank of Ireland (NYSE: IRE) low of $0.75. Bank of Ireland, among others, is still showing weakness as Europe works to get a grip on its debt situation. Irish Department of Finance head John Moran was distressed at the drop off in deposits at Irish banks. The comment was made at an Irish Banking Federation conference yesterday. Bank of Ireland shares are off over 80 percent from a high of $3.74 reached almost exactly one year ago.

  • Illumina Inc. (Nasdaq: ILMN) low of $25.57. Still showing a little weakness, Illumina hit it's new 52-week low early into Thursdays trading session, though it moved about 7 percent throughout the day to $27.38. Illumina initially saw a sharp drop following preliminary revenue estimates issued late last week. Shares have been trading basically flat since last Friday.
