This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Cree Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) high of $28.77. Cree moving higher today on unsubstantiated takeover. Shares moved 9.1 percent higher to its new mark.

  • Seattle Genetics Inc. (Nasdaq: SGEN) high of $22.37. Seattle Genetics moving 4.4 percent higher as CEO Clay Siegall exercised options for 15,000 shares based on Rule 10b5-1 trading plan.

  • Reynolds American Inc. (NYSE: RAI) high of $39.31. Reynolds American and other tobacco seeing some positive momentum today, following reports that Big Tobacco might appeal a 1998 settlement between 19 tobacco companies and 46 states. An attorney is arguing the settlement treated those who entered the settlement late unfairly.

  • Stamps.com Inc. (Nasdaq: STMP) high of $26.08. Stamps.com hit a 52+-week high on unusual volume today. Shares moved 9.6 percent amid the intraday rally, as volume looks like its going to be 120 percent or so better.
52-Week Low:
  • Illumina (Nasdaq: ILMN) low of $25.71. Illumina moving 36 percent lower today, following third-quarter guidance which sees revenue of $235 million, coming up shy of the $277.7 million expected by the Street. The company also suspended guidance. Illumina was downgraded by MAcquarie, Piper Jaffray, Deutsche Bank, Cowen, Maxim Group, and UBS today.

  • Regency Energy Partners (NYSE: RGP) low of $20.20. Regency priced an underwritten public offering of 10,000,000 common units representing limited partner interests at $20.92 per common unit.

  • PerkinElmer Inc. (NYSE: PKI) low of $17.48. PerkinElmer moving on Illumina news today. Shares dropped 10.6 percent to the new low.

  • MetroPCS Communications, Inc. (NYSE: PCS) low of $7.75. MetroPCS might be lower today on both Sprint (NYSE: S) news, and a recent interview with CEO Tony Lau who said selling tablets makes sense for the company, but they'll have to wait until LTE-equipped tablets become more prevalent. The interview was conducted by FirceWireless.
