Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 09/29: (HGIC) (IFT) (AMSC) Higher; (YOKU) (AMD) (EDU) Lower

Harleysville (Nasdaq: HGIC) 85.5% HIGHER; to be acquired by Nationwide for $60 per share.

Youku.com (Nasdaq: YOKU) 21% LOWER; US-listed Chinese stocks are getting absolutely smashed this morning as the DoJ is currently probing these companies related to the recent wave of Chinese accounting fraud.

Imperial Holdings, LLC (NYSE: IFT) 16.0% HIGHER; traders buying the dip today following a 65 percent plunge yesterday amid reports of an FBI raid on the company's Boca Raton offices.

Thor Industries, Inc. (NYSE: THO) 15.9% HIGHER; reported Q4 EPS of $0.66, 5 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.61. Revenue for the quarter came in at $770.54 million versus the consensus estimate of $769.09 million.

AMD (NYSE: AMD) 15.3% LOWER; offering preliminary Q3 results: sees sales up 4-6 percent sequentially, down from a prior outlook of up 8-12 percent. Q3 gross margin expected to be 44-45%, down from previous guidance of about 47%. The stock was downgraded at Macquarie, ThinkEquity and Longbow.

New Oriental Education & Technology Group (NYSE: EDU) 13.9% LOWER; failing amid concerns with the DoJ probe of US-listed China-based stocks.

American Superconductor Corporation (Nasdaq: AMSC) 13.1% HIGHER; several executives made transactions after the close Wednesday.

Spreadtrum (Nasdaq: SPRD) 12.5% LOWER; stock continuing lower after breaching a number of technical levels recently. After opening higher yesterday, the stock sold off by more than 7 percent after falling below the 200-day moving average. Shares tested the level this morning, however failed.

LG Display (NYSE: LPL) 11.5% HIGHER; traders attributing upside to speculation from an analyst at Korea's Kiwoom Securities who believes recent downside in the stock is overdone.

SIGA Tech. (Nasdaq: SIGA) 10.2% HIGHER; shares catching a bid following a number of insider buys recently. The stock seemed to bounce above the 200-day smooth moving average late yesterday. The stock is continuing to hold above this technical indicator today. The stock closed yesterday's session up 5 percent.
