Marvell (MRVL) Jumps On Apple (AAPL) iPad 3 Rumors

Marvell Technology (Nasdaq: MRVL) shares are jamming higher on rumors the company's quad-core, ARM-based Armada XP processor could be used in an upcoming Apple product, possibly the iPad 3.

The rumors come following news that developers saw support for quad-core ARM CPU shows up in Apple's Xcode, as reported by Ars Technica.

Ars Technica has a few scenarios as to why Apple has optional support for the Armada XP.

1. First is that Apple could be considering the Marvell for next-generation iOS devices, such as the iPad 3.
2. Second, Apple could be considering the Marvell as a possible low-power, battery-life-enhancing processor for the MacBook Air
3. Last, and most probable in our opinion, is that Apple is using the Marvell chip in prototypes of future iOS device designs (or even an ARM-based MacBook Air that is rumored to exist somewhere inside One Infinite Loop) for testing purposes.
