Caliper Life Sciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: CALP) 41.0% HIGHER; PerkinElmer, Inc. (NYSE: PKI) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Caliper for $10.50 per share, for a total net purchase price of approximately $600 million in cash.

Coldwater Creek (Nasdaq: CWTR) 29.5% HIGHER; may be trading higher following an insider buy late last night. The company's co-chairman and CEO purchased 342,876 shares at prices ranging from 89-94 cents per share.

Penn Millers Holding Corporation (Nasdaq: PMIC) 23.8% HIGHER; has entered into a definitive agreement on September 7, 2011 to be acquired by a subsidiary of ACE Limited (NYSE: ACE) for $20.50 per share in cash.

Achillion Pharma (Nasdaq: ACHN) 21.5% HIGHER; DealReporter is saying the company could explore a deal with Pharmasset (Nasdaq: VRUS). Sources citing Achillion's CEO Mike Kishbauch said the company might be interested in either a merger or a possible licensing deal.

G-III Apparel Group Ltd (Nasdaq: GIII) 17.1% LOWER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.08, 12 cents worse than the analyst estimate of $0.20. Revenue for the quarter came in at $230 million versus the consensus estimate of $213.88 million. Sees Q3 2012 EPS of $2.25 to $2.35, versus the consensus of $2.35. Sees Q3 2012 revenue of $500 million, versus the consensus of $503 million. Sees FY2011 EPS of $3.05 to $3.15, versus prior guidance of $3.15 to $3.25 and the consensus of $3.21.

Tangoe (Nasdaq: TNGO) 16.7% HIGHER; seems to have broken out above the $12 level today. Volume is heavy.

Titan Machinery, Inc. (Nasdaq: TITN) 13.3% LOWER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.30, 4 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.26. Revenue for the quarter came in at $310.8 million versus the consensus estimate of $293.04 million. Titan Machinery sees FY2011 EPS of $1.56 to $1.66, versus prior guidance of $1.53 to $1.63 and the consensus of $1.64. Titan Machinery sees FY2011 revenue of $1.33 to $1.405 billion, versus prior guidance of $1.310 to $1.385 billion and the consensus of $1.41 billion.

Fusion-IO (NYSE: FIO) 12.3% LOWER; the second day in a row an analyst firm has initiated coverage on the stock with a Sell rating. Yesterday was Auriga, today is Merriman Capital.

Primero Mining Corp. (NYSE: PPP) 10.8% LOWER; today announced that as a result of a month long strike and lower than anticipated gold grades it has provided a revised operating outlook for 2011. Click here for more color.

Matrix Service Co (NASDAQ: MTRX) 11.6% LOWER; reported Q4 EPS of $0.21, $0.01 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.22. Revenue for the quarter came in at $163.6 million versus the consensus estimate of $175.9 million. Sees FY2012 EPS of $0.75-$0.95, versus the consensus of $0.99. Sees FY2012 revenue of $650-$725 million, versus the consensus of $727.55 million.

Rex Energy (Nasdaq: REXX) 9% HIGHER; a number of related stocks are trading higher on news Hess has bought Marquette Exploration and a number of other leases in the Utica Shale region.
